With the heat wave this week, the Town of Sylvan Lake has had to take the measure of limiting the number of guests to the the lakefront.

Yesterday (Tuesday) all of the parking lots were at full capacity and access to the lots along Lakeshore drive was barricaded. With temperatures expected to be above 25 degrees for the rest of the week and into the weekend, the number of users to the lake will need to be limited.

Signs have been placed around town telling visitors that the parking lots are full and to reconsider coming back on a different day.

From The Town of Sylvan Lake, July 28th

Please note that our waterfront is nearing capacity, and we are preparing to close our public waterfront parking lots for 12:20 PM, July 28, 2020, until end of day/6:00 PM. Please reconsider visiting our waterfront parks today, if that was your plan.

We'd like to remind visitors to our waterfront, to respect our community rules:

-keep 2 metres apart from those outside of your family cohort (max 15 to a cohort), and visit us another day/time  if you are unable to maintain 2 metres from others;

-stay home if you are feeling unwell; a reminder that COVID-19 symptoms include headaches;

-adhere to parking bylaws; 'resident only' parking and 'visitor pay parking' is in effect;

-no smoking of any kind, including vaping; Sylvan Lake's parks are smoke-free;

-charcoal grills are not permitted within our parks;

-no pets; keep dogs leashed and off of our green spaces; remain on our trails/paths.

Thank you so much for showing care and respect for our community!
