This week, charges were laid against a Prince George man who is alleged to have stolen a semi-tractor in Grande Prairie.

Police arrested 31-year-old Clinton Jay Baraniuk of Prince George, already known to police, after they caught him breaking and entering a business on the 2300 block of Ospika Boulevard in Prince George after midnight on Aug. 11.

Baraniuk fled the scene, but the RCMP found him hiding nearby. And although he didn’t listen to police commands, there were able to arrest him with the help of a Police Dog Service team within a short time.

After investigating, the Prince George RCMP thought Baraniuk had been in possession of the semi-tractor stolen in Grande Prairie a few days before. Officers recovered it nearby.

Baraniuk was charged with break and enter with intent, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, possession of break-in instruments and resisting arrest. He has been kept in police custody and these charges have now been approved.

His next court appearance is tomorrow (Sept. 17) in Prince George.
