There is a water main break in the Village of Rycroft that could not be isolated and has resulted in a loss of water supplies . 

The Village of Rycroft was forced to shut down the water distribution system due to low water levels in the potable water supplies. 

A State of Local Emergency is now in effect. Repairs are being are being conducted and periodic line testing may temporarily energize lines but water is non- consumable. 

Since we were unable to maintain positive pressure on the system, additional sampling and testing will be conducted in order to verify that water is safe to drink.

Until further notice Do not consume tap water. Drink bottled water only. Watch for further directions from local authorities. This alert will remain in effect until repairs are completed and the system is restored to normal conditions.


BACKGROUND:

Due to an unforeseen water break on the evening of Wednesday February 27, the Village of Rycroft was forced to shut down the water distribution system to the Village due to a major loss of water that could not be isolated. Repairs are being arranged and they hope to have all services restored as soon as possible.

Since they were unable to maintain positive pressure to the distribution system, additional sampling will need to be conducted in order to verify that the water is safe to drink. Until further notice, the Village of Rycroft is on a do not consume water advisory.
