The latest national rent rankings from Rentals.ca had Grande Prairie as the 30th most expensive city to rent in November.

In the Swan City, the average one-bedroom property cost $959, while two-bedrooms averaged $1,117. Both these numbers are down from October and the previous year. The decrease since October is 2.5% for one-bedrooms and 4.3% for two. One and two-bedrooms are annually down 6.6% and 7.4% respectively.

The average rent for all Canadian properties listed on Rentals.ca in November was $1,743 per month, down 9.1% annually, and 2.2% from October 2020. Rent in Canada and Grande Prairie in particular had increased slightly in October from the previous month.

The report says, “After staying flat for several months, the average rent for all property types in Canada declined in November, as the typical low-tenant-demand months of November, December and January have started.”

They advise Canadians to expect further decline in rates into early next year as a result of lockdowns limiting in-person viewing, increase in COVID cases and the border being closed to new immigrants.
