Environment Canada has issued the following rainfall warning for the Dawson Creek area:

A long episode of rain, at times heavy, is expected.

Up to 75 mm of rain is expected to fall over the southern BC Peace River region tonight through Thursday.

Showers over the southern BC Peace River region, including Dawson Creek and Chetwynd, will transition to rain at times heavy Wednesday as a low pressure system moves into northern Alberta. This low will funnel rain over the eastern slopes of the Rocky mountains. As the low weakens Thursday, rain will taper to showers. However, showers are expected to continue into Friday.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
