Area residents are invited to attend a free community information session to learn about the harms cannabis use presents to the health of teens, and teen cannabis use reduction strategies.

The presentation will be held on April 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Public School District, 10127 120 Ave.

Virginia Hayes, an addiction counsellor with Alberta Health Services (AHS), will lead the presentation. Attendees will learn about the health effects of cannabis use, reasons and factors as to why some teens may use cannabis, chemicals found in cannabis, prevention strategies, and approaches to support adolescents who may use cannabis. Const. Melanie McIntosh, with the Grande Prairie RCMP, will also share cannabis enforcement information.

Registration is not required. Please bring any questions you may have about topics related to cannabis.
