Premier Jason Kenney says he's worried about Albertans heading out to the parks this long weekend.

He says there's good reason to be worried considering what happened last month during the first days of social distancing measures.

Kenney says parks were flooded with people not keeping their distance from others, making a mess and putting parks staff at risk.

But that's not their only worry.

"We are quite concerned about the possibility of managing this pandemic and then having a lot of wildfires at the same time, like we did last summer and spring," he says. "Those wildfires could severely affect air quality which could complicate the physical condition of people susceptible to the coronavirus."

Kenney says they'll be announcing further measures Thursday including a fire ban in some areas.
