The Grande Prairie Public School Division (GPPSD) announced today that there has been a positive COVID-19 case found in an individual from Grande Prairie Composite High School (GPCHS).

Administration at GPPSD were notified today by Alberta Health Services (AHS) and a letter was emailed to all GPCHS families and posted online.

The school will still be open tomorrow for in-person learning, and necessary measures are being taken to prevent spread to staff and students. This includes deep cleaning and disinfecting.

To respect their privacy, the person’s name won’t be released. AHS is following up with close contacts directly. If a family did not receive a close contact message, their students can still attend classes.

In the letter they also reminded parents to go through the symptom screening checklist every morning with their students and reminded staff, visitors and volunteers to do so for themselves.
