The Notre Dame Choristers are on the verge of striking and half of the choir will be singing elsewhere.

The beloved Cathedral's Christmas Eve choir members are unhappy with the firing of five of their choral instructors. The singers are saying the dismissal of one teacher, a Gregorian chant instructor, in particular, is "totally abusive and unjustified".

The Cathedral found itself at a loss financially due to the April fire that left the building unavailable for bookings. Due to the lack of concert and event bookings, the Notre Dame was unable to continue supporting the teachers and as a result, let them go.

Choir members are outraged and a nearby church, Saint-Germain L'Auxerrois will be hosting mass with half of the choir while the other half performs in an event tent.

The Cathedral is still under repairs.
