At approximately 09:07 a.m. Thursday morning, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service Bezanson and Clairmont Stations responded to a reported barn fire near Township Road 720 and Range Road 32 south of Bezanson.

Upon arrival, crews found a near century old barn with a smoldering fire in the hay loft. The fire was quickly brought under control and damage was limited. Additional support was dispatched from Teepee Creek, Dunes, and Wembley stations, as well as, the DeBolt Fire Department.

“An immediate call to 911 and a prompt action from the property owner prevented further damage to the barn and surrounding property” said Regional Fire Service Deputy Chief Jason Nesbitt.

No persons or livestock were injured as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical in nature and is currently under investigation by the County Fire Marshall.
