Five-time GRAMMY-nominated worship group Maverick City Music is set to make history this weekend, and they say they can't wait to "worship and celebrate" in front of a massive television audience.

The Christian supergroup writes on their social media that "It brings us so much joy to share that we’re taking the stage for the first time at the Grammys this Sunday, April 3rd!"

A press release says that this will be the first time in over 20 years that a Gospel or Christian artist performance has been televised.

Relevant points out that's not quite correct as Chance the Rapper partnered with Gospel artist Kirk Franklin in 2017 for a cover of Chris Tomlin's "How Great." But, the magazine writes, "we know what they mean. Brian McKnight, Al Green, Hezekiah Walker and Cece Winans performed a Gospel medley at the 2002 Grammys so yes, by the strictly technical definition, it’s been 20 years since there was a Gospel performance at the Grammys."

It's also the first time that an artist has been nominated in all four Christian music categories across two genres.

"All the glory and praise goes to Jesus," the band says.

Maverick City Music is nominated for Best Gospel Performance/Song for “Wait On You” with Elevation Worship; Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Man Of Your Word” and “Jireh” with Elevation Worship; Best Gospel Album for Jubilee: Juneteenth Edition; and Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Old Church Basement with Elevation Worship.

The Grammys take place this Sunday at 8 p.m. EDT.
