Man driving tractor goes through the ice on the Peace River

High Level RCMP responded to a report of a male who had gone through the ice on the Peace River near Carcajou on Tuesday.

On April 2nd, 2019, the High Level RCMP, along with La Crete Fire and Rescue and Manning Fire Department, responded to a report of a male who had gone through the ice on the Peace River near Carcajou. The male had been on a small tractor, with family members behind him driving pick-up trucks. The tractor had made it ¾ of the way across when it disappeared through the ice into the river.

The male, a 64-year-old resident of La Crete, AB, did not resurface and has yet to be located.

Family has been notified. Names will not be released.

The office of the chief medical examiners office has been contacted.
