On December 26, 2019, Whitecourt RCMP were conducting patrols in the downtown area and located a suspicious vehicle parked by a bank.

Police checks were conducted and the vehicle was towed as it was not registered. A short time later a suspect male known to police to be on outstanding warrants was located in the area and arrested. The man also had counterfeit Canadian currency on his presence as well as other items that were seized.  

The police also received a call indicating a liquor store and gym in the area had been broken into. It is alleged the man had broken into these establishments before being caught by police.

Jeremy Kevin Gummesen, age 29 of no fixed address, has been charged with 2 counts of break and enter, 2 counts of mischief under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a break in instruments, possession of counterfeit money and 2 counts of failing to comply with recognizance.

He was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Whitecourt Provincial Court on January 2, 2020.
