The Women of Influence Awards are proud to announce Dr. Connie Korpan as the keynote speaker for the 2020 event.

Dr. Korpan has been a valued faculty member at Grande Prairie Regional College since 2001, during which time she has received numerous research awards for her academic career including from the Canada Council on Learning and from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada. Such research includes being the lead investigator on several collaborative community initiatives including the Police and Crisis Team and the SSHRC-funded Youth Belonging and Connection project, both of which have brought significant positive impacts to the community.

Dr. Korpan is currently a member of GPRC's Board of Governors and has been a long-standing member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Grande Prairie. She serves on a number of community boards, currently for PACE and the Suicide Prevention and Resource Centre and serves on the Community Foundation’s Vital Signs leadership committee. From the day Dr. Korpan moved to Grande Prairie, she has remained impressed with the community’s entrepreneurship and spirit of innovation as well as its culture of generosity and compassion.

The Women of Influence Awards take place on March 6, from 11:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. at the Teresa Sargent Hall. Tickets are available for $35 through the Revolution Place box office.

The Women of Influence Awards recognize local women who have made a strong impact by promoting equality, providing opportunities for women in the community and breaking barriers in their field. Our region is known for its vibrancy, entrepreneurship and continuous growth and these awards are a way to celebrate women’s achievements in making this possible with equal opportunity for all.
