The fate of the Calgary Stampede could be announced Thursday, April 23.

Stampede officials have scheduled an announcement for 3 p.m.

It's expected they'll cancel the 2020 version of the show for the first time since 1923.

The City of Edmonton, cancelled their annual K-Days Exhibition early Thursday morning.

The 141st edition of the event was scheduled for Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 26.

Organizers say continuing concerns over COVID-19 have made it impossible to host it.

The Stampede is scheduled to start Friday, July 3, just three days after the City of Calgary's ban on large public events is scheduled to be lifted.
