Each year many head to Drumheller for an outdoor spectacle and now another hard decision has been made for a popular family event held each year.

On Wednesday the Canadian Badlands Passion Play announced the cancelation of their upcoming season this July.

The organizers looked at many different ways to put on this year's show but due to everything that is going on at this time, there is not a safe way they can do so.

This year would have seen a renewed production with a new script written by Royal Sproule, however, with the restrictions currently in place by AHS regarding gatherings they cast would not be able to begin rehearsals in the coming weeks, as well the safety of the staff and cast is first and foremost and this is the most responsible decision the board could make to ensure everyone's health and safety involved in the production.

Those with tickets for the 2020 show will be contacted and tickets for this year will be honoured for 2021 if visitors choose to do so.

This is the first event that has been canceled at the Badlands Amphitheatre this year, but with the uncertainty of the times more groups may have tough decisions ahead.
