Hinton man charged with arson of own house

In the early hours of May 24, Hinton emergency personnel responded to a 911 call of a house on fire in a residential neighborhood in Hinton.  

Upon arrival, there was smoke billowing from the house and the interior of the home was on fire. The Hinton Fire Department worked to extinguish the fire. No one was injured as a result. 

The Hinton Fire Department, Hinton RCMP General Duty and General Investigation Section initiated an investigation.  

As a result of the investigation, Julien Gasse Trudel, 34, has been charged with arson - damage to own property. 

Following a judicial hearing, Trudel was remanded into custody to speak to bail. He is scheduled to attend Jasper Provincial Court on May 27. 

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be provided.
