On July 6, 2021, at 12:20 p.m., Jasper RCMP received a 911 call of a multi vehicle collision on Highway 16, located near the Jasper airport within the Jasper National Park.

Jasper RCMP’s initial investigation has indicated vehicles heading eastbound had slowed for wildlife crossing Highway 16 and a serious collision involving a total of 4 vehicles resulted. This collision resulted in two seriously injured persons and STARS air ambulance have been deployed. Further details regarding this collision are not yet available as this investigation is still unfolding.

Jasper RCMP remains on the scene and the RCMP Collision Analyst will be attending to assist with the investigation.

Highway 16 is expected to remain closed for approximately 6 hours as this investigation continues. Traffic is being diverted.
