It was a monumental day for Sunrise House as they officially broke ground on the area that will be the future home of the new youth emergency shelter.

Many people attended the milestone event including, Grande Prairie – Mackenzie MP Chris Warkentin, Mayor of Grande Prairie Jackie Clayton, County Reeve Leanne Beaupre, and MD of Greenview Reeve Tyler Olsen.

In a recent Facebook post they said, "We are so incredibly thankful for everyone who joined us this morning for our groundbreaking ceremony, both in person or by sending their wishes."

Plans for the new shelter have been in the works for nearly 13 years. The facility is anticipated to take around 14 months to complete.
