After a four-year absence, the Alberta Winter Games will return in February 2024 with Grande Prairie and region welcoming more than 2,800 coaches, technical officials and young athletes.

Sports play an integral role in the mental and physical well-being of youth across our province and that is why Alberta’s government is proud to support any opportunity for young people to return to play.

Alberta’s government will provide a $420,000 operating grant to the host society to support the 2024 Alberta Winter Games. The Games are expected to generate about $3 million in economic benefits for the Grande Prairie region.

“Sports give our youth a chance to build real life skills like team building, leadership and resilience. Our government is proud to contribute to the Alberta Winter Games and be part of the integral development of our young athletes. Grande Prairie, as a veteran Games community, offers an incredible array of facilities, a dedicated and motivated organizing committee and a highly supportive community. Our athletes will undoubtedly remember these Games long after they have ended.”
