Grande Prairie RCMP Detachment is excited to announce the launch of a community engagement project focusing on increased visibility in Grande Prairie`s parks, trail systems, and in the downtown core of the city.

Grande Prairie RCMP officers will patrol throughout the parks and trail system using a utility terrain vehicle (UTV) and engage with members of the public. The initiative will be in partnership with Grande Prairie Enforcement Services and the Mobile Outreach Program.

The Mobile Outreach Program is a diversion program whose mandate is to mitigate the impacts of street level social issues.  The Mobile Outreach Program will assist during the patrols to help identify the needs of Grande Prairie’s vulnerable population, providing wrap around services, and helping to access and navigate support services in the City of Grande Prairie.

Grande Prairie RCMP officers will also be conducting foot patrols in the downtown area of Grande Prairie engaging with the public, business owners and property representatives.

“Community engagement is a priority of the Grande Prairie RCMP,” says Superintendent Sean Curry, Officer in Charge of the Grande Prairie RCMP Detachment.  “Increased visibility within the city through UTV and foot patrols offers additional opportunities to interact with the public to discuss concerns they may have which would assist the RCMP in improving its service delivery to the community.”
