On March 7, 2022 at approximately 8:32 a.m., Beaverlodge RCMP were called to a report of a truck stuck in a ditch located in the area of Range Road 94 and Township Road 734 in Beaverlodge, Alta. Preliminary investigation determined that the truck had been reported stolen out of Grande Prairie earlier that morning at approximately 6:15 a.m.

Officers attended the scene and located a female and male with the truck. The female was arrested, however the male fled the scene on foot. Officers pursued the male who returned to the area of the stolen vehicle and subsequently drove away with an unsecured police vehicle.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., the Grande Prairie RCMP were notified that a police vehicle had been stolen and was travelling towards Grande Prairie. Officers received reports that the vehicle was driving near the area of the Grande Prairie Airport located near Airport Drive.

Officers with the assistance of Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Services attended the area. The male continued driving the police vehicle, eventually ending up driving off the road in the area of 123 Street and 109 Avenue in Grande Prairie. The male then exited the police vehicle and fled from police on foot. The police vehicle was recovered and all equipment in the police vehicle remained locked up and has been accounted for.

At approximately 9:32 a.m., Grande Prairie RCMP were notified the male reportedly stole another vehicle which had been located in the area of 121 Street and 104 Avenue in Grande Prairie. The vehicle is described as a blue 2017 Dodge Ram welding truck with Alberta licence plate CGW 8839. The vehicle was last seen travelling East bound on Emerson Trail, near Sexsmith, Alta.

The male suspect was last seen wearing the following:

·       Blue overalls or coveralls

·       Ball cap

·       Black sweater

Grande Prairie RCMP continue to look for the vehicle and the male suspect.
