Grande Prairie RCMP arrested a man and seized drugs following a drug trafficking investigation by the Grande Prairie RCMP Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit.

After receiving complaints from Montrose area residents an investigation was initiated into drug trafficking. On Feb. 12, members of the Grande RCMP Municipal Enforcement Drug Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the Montrose neighbourhood.

The search resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 160 Grams of Methamphetamine
  • 44 Grams of Fentanyl
  • 20 Grams of Crack Cocaine
  • $10,500.00

David Ernest Kendell, 57, of Grande Prairie was charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking - Fentanyl
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000
  • Two counts of fail to Comply with Release Order

Kendell is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Mar. 24.

The RCMP would like to thank the community members and Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) for their assistance in the investigation. SCAN is a unit of the Alberta Sheriffs that helps keep communities safe by dealing with problem properties that are being used for specific illegal activity such as drug trafficking, prostitution, child exploitation and gang related crime. The SCAN unit makes communities safer by using civil legislation to target residential and commercial problem properties in rural and urban Alberta where specified illegal activity is occurring regularly.
