In the City of Grande Prairie, 10 new COVID-19 cases were reported today (April 28), and 59 people recovered. The active total is 427 with 2,694 recoveries.

In the County of Grande Prairie, 11 new cases were added, and 25 people recovered. There’s now 194 active cases and 904 recoveries.

Peace Region totals:

Provincially, Alberta reported 1,839 new cases from 18,976 tests completed and our positivity rate is about 9.7 per cent. Right now, 20,938 cases are active in the province. With 1,616 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 163,668.

There’s 643 people in the hospital with the virus, with 145 of these in intensive care. This is eight more hospitalizations than reported yesterday and two more ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 68 people in the hospital with 11 of these admitted to intensive care.

Alberta has reported seven more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 2,073 since the start of the pandemic.

There’s been 1,058 more cases of variants of concern found. Of the active cases, 13,193 or 63 per cent, are variants. In the North Zone, 1,591 variant cases are active and 1,521 have recovered.

There have now been 1,497,256 vaccine doses administered, with 288,595 Albertans fully immunized with two doses.
