In the City of Grande Prairie, 44 new COVID-19 cases were reported, and 33 people recovered. The active total is 485 with 1,988 recoveries.

In the County of Grande Prairie, 18 new cases were added, and 13 people recovered. There’s now 195 active cases and 609 recoveries.

Peace Region totals:

Provincially, Alberta has reported 1,521 new cases today (April 9) from 15,611 tests completed and our positivity rate is about 9.7%. Right now, 13,059 cases are active in the province. With 647 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 143,360.

There’s 333 people in the hospital with the virus, with 83 of these in intensive care. This is seven fewer hospitalizations than reported yesterday, and the same number of ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 38 people in the hospital with five of these admitted to intensive care.

Alberta has reported two more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 2,007 since the start of the pandemic.

There’s been 674 more cases of variants of concern found. Of the active cases, 5,937, or 45.5 per cent, are variants. In the North Zone, 682 variant cases are active and 118 have recovered.
