On April 23, 2019, at approximately 10:33 a.m., Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a collision on Highway 40, approximately 40 km South of Grande Prairie.

One semi truck loaded with two tankers carrying crude oil was travelling northbound on Highway 40 when the semi swerved and the tankers were pulled into the ditch. The tankers slid across the highway blocking lanes of travel for a period of time. The load was contained within the tanks.

The 39-year-old driver of the semi truck was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Occupational Health and Safety have been notified.
