In the City of Grande Prairie, 41 new COVID-19 cases were reported, and 38 people recovered. The active total is 487 with 2217 recoveries.

In the County of Grande Prairie, 29 new cases were added, and 14 people recovered. There’s now 218 active cases and 697 recoveries.

Peace Region totals:

Provincially, Alberta reported 1,616 new cases today (April 16) from 16,876 tests completed and our positivity rate is about 9.6 per cent. Right now, 16,759 cases are active in the province. With 1,080 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 149,000.

There’s 423 people in the hospital with the virus, with 93 of these in intensive care. This is seven more hospitalizations than reported yesterday, and seven more ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 34 people in the hospital with seven of these admitted to intensive care.

Alberta hasn’t reported any more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 2,034 since the start of the pandemic.

There’s been 898 more cases of variants of concern found. Of the active cases, 8,967, or 53.5 per cent, are variants. In the North Zone, 1,067 variant cases are active and 512 have recovered.

There have now been 1,070,693 vaccine doses administered, with 210,221 Albertans fully immunized with two doses.
