Alberta has added 366 new cases of COVID-19 today (Jan. 26), from about 8,300 tests completed, for a positivity rate of about 4.4%. 

Right now, 8,652 cases are active in the province. With 1,040 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 111,662. 

There’s 626 people in the hospital with the virus, with 108 of these in intensive care. This is 11 fewer hospitalizations than reported yesterday, and five fewer ICU admissions. In the North Zone, there’s 75 people in the hospital with seven of these admitted to intensive care. 

Alberta has reported 14 more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 1,587 since the start of the pandemic. One previously reported death has been determined post-mortem to not have COVID-19 as a contributing cause and so was removed from the provincial total.

There have now been 99,814 vaccine doses administered. Over 10,000 Albertans are now fully immunized with two doses.

In the City of Grande Prairie, six new cases were added, and 15 people recovered. Another person has died in the City, which is the 19th COVID-related death reported in Grande Prairie. The active total is 166 with 934 recoveries. The death reported today was one of two reported in the North Zone, which were a man and a woman both in their 60s. Neither were linked to an outbreak, and the woman’s death included comorbidities. 

In the County of Grande Prairie, no cases were added today, and 10 people recovered. There’s now 44 active cases and 289 recoveries.  

Peace Region totals: 

Two new outbreaks in the area were added to the online listing today. These are at the Stone Brook Lodge in Grimshaw and Ovintiv Canada Pipestone in Wembly. Two cases are linked to Stone Brook Lodge and are active. Five cases are linked to Ovintiv Canada Pipestone. Of these, four are active and one recovered.
