The County of Grande Prairie is inviting input from citizens and businesses in Clairmont regarding proposed readdressing for the Hamlet.

“Boundaries of Clairmont were changed in 2007 to include over 5,000 acres of land to accommodate rapid growth and development in the Hamlet and has since caused inconsistent addressing in some areas,” said Nick Lapp, Planning and Development Services Director.

The County is looking to reduce confusion and improve routing and delivery services to citizens and businesses.

“The proposed improvements to Clairmont’s addressing will make it easier for residents, businesses, visitors and emergency services to locate homes, buildings and utilities in the community,” said Lapp, “Our motivation is to enhance safety and service delivery for Clairmont citizens.”

An online survey available from Nov. 27, 2020 to Jan. 15, 2021 provides businesses, residents and property owners in the area an opportunity to give input on the proposed changes. Lapp said once the survey closes, feedback from the community will inform the County’s plan to ensure it meets the needs of the people who live and work in Clairmont.

If approved by Council, the readdressing initiative would affect about 1,100 residential properties and 250 non-residential properties. Addressing changes could take effect in late 2021 or early 2022.

Details about the proposed readdressing plan, including a map of the impacted area, and access to the survey will be available starting on November 27 at countygp.ab.ca/engage.
