Applications are being accepted for paid responder firefighters to serve at the County’s fire stations in La Glace and Bezanson.
Paid responders provide fire and rescue services on an on-call basis in and around their community. Paid responders are compensated for emergency response, station duties and training. Professional-level training is offered at no personal cost and is recognized across North America.
Previous firefighting experience is an asset but not required. Interested applicants should live within a 15-minute radius from the respective fire hall they wish to serve at.
District Fire Chief Dale Widsten said that firefighters are men and women from a variety of backgrounds that have a real interest in helping out their communities.
“We’re committed to being an inclusive workforce and a flexible workplace,” said Widsten. “Our service has many needs, and we’ll work with people to find a role that meets their abilities.”
Applicants must meet minimum requirements, which include:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a current Alberta Driver’s Licence; Driver Abstract, demonstrating a safe driving record; Grade 12 education; RCMP Criminal Record Check; and a doctor’s letter confirming you’re medically fit to perform firefighting duties
