In light of the escalating wildfire risk, we urge all residents and visitors to strictly adhere to our current fire restrictions. Failure to comply puts our communities, natural resources, and infrastructure at serious risk.

“Unfortunately, the County has had to issue recent fines related to fire restriction violations. We are all stewards of our environment. By following fire restrictions, you contribute to our collective safety. We are asking everyone to be vigilant, educate themselves on restrictions in the area and help spread the word so we can prevent fires in these extremely dry conditions," said Fire Chief Trevor Grant.

Recent fines have been related to such things as burning without a necessary permit and leaving a pit fire unattended. Even with a permit, no burning is allowed if winds are over 12km per hour and the last few days the County has seen winds as high as 65km per hour. The County wants to remind residents that public safety is everyone’s responsibility and that together, we can mitigate the wildfire threat. The County continues to communicate with existing permit holders and updates on fire restrictions are available on the County Website.

If anyone has any fire inquiries related to what is allowed, please visit our website at www.countygp.ab.ca/fire or call 780-532-9727.
