The County of Grande Prairie is seeking a long-term agreement with a licenced, independently managed childcare provider with a proven background of delivering quality service to lease space at the Wellington Resource Centre.

The facility is located in the rapidly growing hamlet of Clairmont, home to more than 5,100 residents according to latest Census data.

“We have identified a need within the community of Clairmont for a high-quality childcare option given the number of young families in the area,” says Coree Ladwig, Senior Adult and Community Programs Team Lead with FCSS.

The Wellington Resource Centre and the Clairmont Community School is a partnership between the County of Grande Prairie and Peace Wapiti Public School Division. This opportunity includes space with three separate but joining rooms for different age groups, along with access to a full kitchen and fenced play area.

“The space also includes a multi-purpose room that could provide an option for out-of-school care programs, should the vendor wish to provide that service,” adds Ladwig.

The County’s 2022-2026 Strategic Plan identifies community wellness and safety as an important priority, which includes supporting partners in the development and delivery of programs and activities to improve the quality of life for residents.

Applicants must also identify how the community will be involved in programming.

Additional details can be found in the Request For Proposal (RFP), which closes on August 26. Submissions will be received online only through the County’s bidding system, located at https://countygp.bidsandtenders.ca, which also includes an option for interested providers to book an appointment for an in-person tour of the childcare space until August 12.
