Following a competitive search, the City of Grande Prairie City Council has appointed Horacio Galanti, P.Eng as City Manager.

“Council has been committed to conducting a competitive process that would identify the most qualified candidate possible to lead the City administration,” said Mayor Given. “Horacio’s experience as the City’s Director of Infrastructure and Protective Services and his experience in both the private and municipal sector in three countries has given Council the confidence in his ability to lead our organization.”

“Horacio’s determination and commitment to achieving high performance goals is evident in both his professional and personal record of achievement,” said Mayor Given. “You do not summit the highest peak on every continent, including Mount Everest, as well as reach both the North and South Poles as Horacio has without a commitment to planning and preparation.”

Horacio Galanti is a civil engineer and has spent the previous six years as Director of Infrastructure and Protective Services, the largest division within the City of Grande Prairie. This area encompasses 11 departments including 500 employees and the largest Capital ($50M) and Operating ($65M) budgets of the City of Grande Prairie.

Horacio has demonstrated himself as a solutions based leader with the implementation of innovations like the Complex Projects Team. This new approach has successfully been used to manage eligible significant development projects that require multi-agency coordination or multi-stage permitting. This ability to look at City processes differently and to implement new ways of doing things was highlighted as a key factor in Council’s decision.

“Having been a part of the City of Grande Prairie for six years, I am proud to call our City home and excited for the opportunity to lead an organization full of dedicated staff,” said City Manager Horacio Galanti.
