The Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta is pleased launch a social media campaign geared toward spreading kindness and appreciation across the region, dubbed Community Gratuity Project.

A new initiative put forward by the Community Foundation’s Advancement Committee is a concept designed to generate positivity.

Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta’s CEO Laura LaValley shares, “Over the past year and a half social media has been inundated with divisive topics. This project comes at a time where we could all use some positivity, kindness and recognition! We are enthused about helping to deliver that!”

Interested participants can take part in the project by following a few simple steps:

1. Donate an amount of your choice to the Better Together COVID-19 Response Fund via https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/community-foundation-of-northwesternalberta/campaign/community-gratuity-project/ . Tax receipts will be issued for donations over $20.

2. Submit a video (one minute or less) or photo with text outlining your message of appreciation to rhonda@buildingtomorrowtoday.com

3. Watch for your message to be posted on Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta’s Facebook and Instagram feeds from November 15-December 15.

4. Like, share, and challenge others to do the same.

Spread the love, encouragement, appreciation. The Better Together COVID-19 Response Fund supports the emergent needs of charitable and not for profit organizations in our region.

LaValley adds, “As we move through the pandemic and beyond, our charitable sector has significant need. They have been doing more work with less resources for an extended time and really need our support to encourage their efforts. This fund definitely helps us to provide that assistance.”

This project is a simple gesture that involves all willing participants regardless of age or stage.

LaValley says “Each of us have something to be thankful for! This project provides people with a platform to spread positivity, gratuity and encourages seeing the good in our lives. We can all use more of that in our lives.”

She adds, “Our hope is that people will grab onto the sentiment of this project, participate and encourage others to do the same. It would be fantastic to end the year with some warmth and inspiration across our social media channels.”
