The City and County of Grande Prairie are hosting an in-person open house and online survey to gather public input on recommendations for future roadway network connectivity in the lands located south of the Grande Prairie Airport.

The municipalities are working together on a Transportation Study to coordinate existing and future roadway connectivity in the region. The study covers the area south of 100 Avenue (formerly Highway 43) between 132 Street/Range Road 65 and 124 Street/Range Road 64, and aims to identify potential future road network upgrades and improvements required for more seamless and efficient connectivity.

Recognizing the significance of this initiative, both municipalities have enlisted the expertise of McElhanney Ltd., a consulting firm, to oversee the project.

Second Public In-Person Open House

Initial public engagement included an open house and public survey last June. Input received provided valuable information to the project team, who went on to develop recommendations based on existing studies and engagement feedback.

Community members are invited to a second in-person open house to review and provide input on the draft Transportation Study and recommended future road network upgrades.

Date: Thursday, September 21, 2023

Time: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Location: Ernie Radbourne Pavilion – Muskoseepi Park

Transportation Study Survey

Community members are also encouraged to participate in a Transportation Study Survey, which will remain open until September 30. All information collected is anonymous and will help the project team finalize the Transportation Study.

To participate in the survey, please visit engage.cityofgp.com/transportationstudy or www.countygp.ab.ca/transportationstudy

All interested individuals are encouraged to come to the engagement session or take the survey to help shape the future road network. Public input is vital to ensure the final study accurately represents transportation priorities for the area and meets the needs of our growing community.

The Transportation Study will be finalized later this year and presented to each municipal Council for consideration. For more information, visit engage.cityofgp.com/transportationstudy.
