PARDS began in 1984 as the South Peace Therapeutic Riding Association, an organization operating on a part time basis consisting of borrowed horses and facilities, and driven entirely by kindhearted and dedicated volunteers.

On March 19th, 1985 PARDS was incorporated as a Non-Profit Society and in 1988 they took the name Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society and began using the acronym of PARDS.

After the incorporation they hired the first staff member, a Program Coordinator, and started down the road to becoming the full-time facility the are today.

Every moment at the PARDS Therapeutic Centre is different. The aim, however, is always the same – to make positive change in the lives of those living with disability, through horses.
