On April 30, the Hinton RCMP General Investigation Section, Hinton RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services executed a search warrant at a residence in town following a drug investigation.

As a result of the search, a quantity of drugs was seized including two ounces of cocaine, 25 ounces of cannabis, 3.2 grams of methamphetamine, 8.8 fl. Oz. of GHB, 65 tablets of steroids, and 11 ounces of buffering agents.

In addition, weapons were seized that included a crossbow, taser, multiple knives and brass knuckles.

The search also included a seizure of 552 packs of illegal tobacco with a total amount of 13,800 cigarettes, a significant quantity of Canadian currency of over $21,000, along with drug paraphernalia that included four cell phones, scale, cash machine and over 700 small baggies.

This remains an active police investigation and charges are pending against a 42-year-old Hinton man.

“This represents a significant seizure of suspected drugs, weapons, illicit cash, and proceeds of crime that have been removed from our streets,” says Acting Hinton RCMP Detachment Commander Sgt. Graham Gurski.

“The Hinton RCMP will continue to target this activity in our efforts at crime reduction to ensure a safer community for the residents of Hinton and Yellowhead County.”
