At approximately 06:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 25th, the Grande Prairie Fire Department, County Regional Fire Service, Wembley Fire Department, STARS, AHS EMS, Grande Prairie Technical Search and Rescue, and the RCMP were dispatched to a report of a downed aircraft near Bear Lake in the vicinity of the City / County boundary.

The City of Grande Prairie Fire Department and County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service worked together under unified command to search for the aircraft. STARS and Grande Prairie Technical Search and Rescue were also requested for assistance as a specific location of the aircraft was not immediately available.

The aircraft was spotted by STARS in a field on the shores of Bear Lake near the Grandview Hutterite Colony. STARS and fire service members made contact with the two occupants of the Cessna 150 aircraft which was found undamaged. The occupants of the aircraft did not suffer any injuries. The aircraft was forced to make the emergency landing in a farm field after the aircraft lost engine power, shortly after taking off from the Grande Prairie Airport.
