As of this morning (Aug 9, 2021), fully vaccinated Americans can now reenter Canada. Starting on Monday, along with a number of restrictions, US travelers who are fully vaccinated can enter Canada.

The Canada-US border has been closed to non-essential travel since March 2020. The new travel rules mean American travellers who cross the border must reside in and be travelling from the U.S.

They must be able to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated for at least 14 days with any of the four Health Canada-approved vaccines.

And they must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken prior to entering Canada.

Travellers will also need to use the ArriveCAN app or website to submit their travel information.

Children under the age of 12 who are travelling with a fully vaccinated person no longer need to be quarantined for 14 days as of today.

The new restrictions have also allowed for the expansion of international flights to airports outside of the original approved four (Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver).

On September 7, Canada is expected to open its borders to other international travellers who have been vaccinated.
