An airplane is on its way to China to bring Canadians home in the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne tells the National Post that he is evacuating Canadians from Wuhan.

Champagne added that approximately 250 Canadians registered with Global Affairs Canada say they are in the province where the outbreak is said to have begun.

Coronavirus tests will be given to people entering the country from China. Once their samples are given, the tests will be sent to Winnipeg's National Microbiology Lab.

The government of Canada is requesting all non-essential travel to China to be put on hold and Air Canada is halting all travel to Bejing and Shanghai due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
