Grande Prairie Meals on Wheels continue to serve our communty inspite of COVID 19. Meals on Wheels is a non-profit community program where volunteers deliver hot meals to home-bound individuals who are elderly, disabled, convalescing or to those who lack the strength or motivation to prepare adequate meals for themselves.

Volunteers with the program have been busy delivering meals, prepped at the QEII Hospital, to help those who need it.

Executive Director Sherry Dennis says family members appreicate that a loved one is recieving a meal and that someone is checking up on a family member.  "It's like a check in everyday, a lot of people take comfort in that someone is checking up on their loved ones"

Meals on Wheels also caters to special diets, including diabetic, gluten free, coeliac, low salt, etc.

All volunteers are taking extra precautions with deliveries and have donated their time to deliver special Easter meals for Good Friday and Easter Monday, with special turkey and ham meals.

If an individual or business would like to sponsor Easter dinner for local clients who are isolated from family and friends, you can contact the Grande Prairie Seniors Outreach/Meals on Wheels office.

If you, or someone you know needs this service give them a call at 780-539-3901 or meals@mealsonwheelsgp.com.   As well, if you like to volunteer to the program you can call or email.
