On April 7, B.C. reported 997 new cases of COVID-19 from 11,202 new tests. Recoveries have reached 96,626 and 8,728 cases are active. Of the active cases, 266 are confirmed as variants of concern.

Right now, 330 people are currently hospitalized, with 105 of these in intensive care. There’s been two more deaths reported, for a total of 1,491.

Of the new cases, 18 were in the Northern Health region from 209 new tests. There are 300 active cases in the region, 129 total deaths and 5,877 total recoveries. Currently, 33 people in the area are hospitalized, with 11 in critical care.

On Wednesdays, the province provides cases numbers by Local Health Area for the previous week. From March 28 to April 3, Peace River North had 56 new cases, and Peace River South had 115 new cases.

Provincially, there’s been 946,096 doses COVID-19 vaccine administered, 87,504 of which are second doses. This is almost 20% of those who are eligible for a vaccine in B.C.

Anyone in B.C. can register with The Get Vaccinated online vaccine registration and booking system for B.C.’s age-based immunization program. Registration is also available by calling 1-833-838-2323 or at a Service BC office.
