On Jan. 12, B.C. reported 446 new cases from 5,795 tests completed. 

In the province, there are now 5,045 active cases and 51,144 recoveries. Right now, 368 people are hospitalized, with 72 of these in intensive care. Nine more COVID-related deaths were reported, for a total of 1,019 since the start of the pandemic. 

In the Northern Health region, 46 new cases were added from 198 tests for 497 active cases. In the area, 43 are hospitalized with 16 in critical care. There’s been a total of 43 deaths and 2,049 recoveries.  

Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer, and Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, remind Bristish Columbians to find ways to stay active and encourage them to follow public health orders. 

“Despite the challenges of COVID-19, there are many safe ways for us to stay active and stay connected. This is important for our physical and mental well-being. 

“Things are different than what they were before the pandemic. But we have learned, we have adapted, and by following the orders and rules for a bit longer, we will soon get to the brighter days ahead.”
