In 1985, the United Nations General Assembly established International Volunteer Day (IVD) to commemorate the contributions and dedication of volunteers worldwide. Today, IVD is celebrated globally on December 5 by volunteers, voluntary organizations and by all those who benefit directly from the endless help of a volunteer.

The Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau invites you to our 33rd Annual Celebration Breakfast to recognize the vital contributions volunteers make to our community and around the world. This year’s event is taking place on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am at the Richmond Reception Centre, 11802 - 99 Avenue. The breakfast is prepared and provided by the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie Barbecue Crew, we will have coffee from Tim Hortons and Juice provided by Safeway. The Breakfast will have live entertainment and we will be giving away awesome door prizes during the event.

As part of the celebration, we will be presenting the Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau’s Annual Volunteer of the Year and Corporate Volunteer of the Year Awards. “The purpose of these awards is to recognize outstanding contributions by an individual or company during the last twelve months. Grande Prairie is a unique community and a lot of our residents are on the go and their volunteer efforts are often intense and short duration but have a significant impact on an organization – these are the volunteers we seek to recognize.” says Carol-Anne Pasemko, Executive Director of the Bureau. Nominations where accepted from the community and one deserving individual and one corporate entity has been chosen by the selection committee to receive these awards.

There is no cost to attend this event due to the generous support of our sponsors. We will be accepting donations of new socks, winter gloves, scarfs and toques, at the door, for the Community Basket Christmas Drive! All Donations will be distributed to those in need.
