Alberta vaccine records just got an upgrade in the form of the long-awaited QR codes.

There's one catch though: there's currently no way to scan them.

According to the province, the AB COVID Records Verifier app will be required for that, and it's yet to be launched.

Vaccination records, including the QR code, can be found here.

Today's provincial COVID numbers show some decreases, though none substantial enough to indicate an easing of the pressure felt in the healthcare system.

Within the last 24 hours, 1,630 new cases were reported.

The active case count dropped by 40 cases, now sitting at 20,215 total.

Locally, there are currently 497 active COVID-19 cases in Grande Prairie and 291 in the County of Grande Prairie.

Total hospitalizations also dropped by 17, with 1,066 Albertans currently being treated for COVID in hospital, including 263 in intensive care (ICU numbers remained the same compared to yesterday.)

With 14 additional fatalities, the total has now risen to 2,731.

Of those age 12 and up, 83.8 per cent have received at least one dose of COVID vaccination, with 74.5 per cent being fully vaccinated.  In Grande Prairie and the County of Prairie, 56.8% and 56% of those 12+ respectively have been fully vaccinated.
