The Alberta Junior Hockey League has announced that they will be pushing back their 2020-21 regular season for now and replacing it with a Development Season for the time being.

Due to COVID restrictions and discussions with the Alberta Government, the AJHL is unable to start their 2020-2021 season and has decided to advance into a Development Season which will allow players, staff and fans to remain safe while allowing players to train and prepare at a high level.

Camps will be permitted to start on August 31st.

Players will have the option to register for their respective team's development camp or opt-out of the camp.

AJHL League Commissioner says "the opportunity for an AJHL development season will amplify the league's ability to provide our athletes with valuable experience through the quality instruction of our coaches and access to team training resources."

The AJHL's Development Season will meet the current health and safety requirements put in place by the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services and will also meet the requirements in place from Alberta hockey and Hockey Canada.
