Applications sought for Rotary Youth Exchange

It has been described as a life changing opportunity.  The Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie are recruiting for outbound youth exchange students for the fall 2019 to summer 2020 exchange year.

Unlike many exchange programs, this one is fully funded by Rotary, which means it is available to all students, not just those who can afford to pay.   Committee Chair Karen Munjak says “The Rotary Youth Exchange program builds peace, one young person at a time. Students learn a new language, discover another culture, and live with host families for a full academic year. Students become global citizens.”

Program overview:

  • • Students must be 16 prior to June 30, 2019
  • • Students must not turn 19 during their exchange year
  • • This is a reciprocal exchange so students cannot have graduated from high school prior to exchange
  • • Depart mid-August 2019
  • • Return end of June 2020
  • • Training for students provided
  • • Travel visas, insurance, program administration costs and airfares covered by Rotary
  • • Host families screened and provided by overseas Rotary clubs
  • • No requirement for Canadian family to host exchange students
