Connect'd Men is a safe space for guys to come together once a week and discuss real issues, and practice emotional mastery.

In a quote taken from the Connect'd Men poster, it says, "We are facing a crisis right now. Men are hurting. We tend to pride ourselves on our independence and self-sufficiency. We live in a culture that actively discourages men from exploring their emotional selves. This has led to loneliness, depression, acts of aggression and suicide rates that are completely unacceptable. Together we can change that".

The weekly meeting's hosted by Green View FCSS will provide men the opportunity to talk about the problems in life that may be weighing them down. Connect'd Men weekly meetings will be a peer led group, and are open to men 16 years or older.

Lisa Hannaford, Manager of Green View FCSS says, "Sometimes we have more groups for ladies than for men, and I wanted to ensure our male residents had an opportunity to come and join this peer led group, just to practice emotional mastery".

Hannaford also went on to say, "A lot of men through socialization have a shield, and they may feel that they can't talk about things that are bothering them and therefore issues remain inside an individual. This is a safe space, for real men, to talk about real problems".

The Connect'd Men weekly meetings will be held from 6:30-8:30 pm, at the Green View FCSS Community Resource Centre in Valleyview starting April 1st. No registration required.
