Arvid Loewen is a 63-year-old grandpa in his 24th day of breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest distance traveled in one month cycling.

The current record was set in 2017 for over 11,000 kms. But this isn’t Arvid’s first cycling record either. In 2011, Arvid cycled across the nation in 13 days, 6 hours and 13 minutes and he still holds that Guinness World Record.

In an update he gave us today, Arvid said, “I’m hanging in there. Every day is a challenge, but so far I’m ahead of record base so if I keep doing what I’m doing, then that would be good. It’s gone very much as I expected, lots of lows, lots of highs, but we’re still on the road every day.”

iscouragement where he just simply says, ‘those kids aren’t worth it, why are you putting yourself through this? All of this doesn’t matter.’ So, I have a lot of things to battle through like that, because I do know it matters, many many many many children have been rescued because of the result of what we’ve done with the support of people who’ve donated to the cause.”
