On June 21, 2021, Whitecourt RCMP received a report that the North Country Market had a break in at approximately 4 a.m.

Whitecourt RCMP’s investigation indicates approximately $25,000 worth of meat was stolen during this break in. It is believed that the suspect(s) were driving an older model Tahoe or Suburban.

Whitecourt RCMP would like to caution anyone that online buy and sell accounts may be used to re-sell stolen goods such as these and caution should be exercised—especially in regards to the safe handling of food products and the sale of highly perishable items such as meat.

Meat that is sold for human consumption is regulated by Federal and Provincial agencies and any legitimate business would be able to provide records supporting compliance with regulations in Canada.

The Whitecourt RCMP are asking anyone who may have information regarding this incident or who may be responsible, to contact the Whitecourt RCMP at 780-779-5900, or your local police. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
